Every year more people are killed at work than in wars. Most don't die of mystery ailments, or in tragic "accidents". They die because an employer, a contractor or even a manufacturer decided their safety just wasn't that important a priority. Today, Workers’ Memorial Day commemorates those workers. MOURN FOR THE DEAD… FIGHT FOR THE LIVING !
Can`t help wondering how many school caretakers have died, or will die, from asbestosis. The stuff was everywhere when I started working in schools in the late 70s. The rolling program of removal didn`t start until a decade, at least, after that. I wonder how many unionized local work places do not have H&S reps.
